The Philippines is about the islands, and for me Palawan is the most beautiful part of it. El Nido was the highlight — island-hopping through the lagoons and limestone cliffs of Bacuit Bay is something I still tell every client about. Take the boat tours (Tour A and C are the classics), bring water shoes, and don't rush the beaches. Manila is fine for a night in transit, but the real Philippines is down south on the islands.
